Interesting Move to Lowrie

The Red Sox have called up Jed Lowrie from Pawtucket to fill in while Mike Lowell is on the 15 day DL with a sprained thumb.

This is an interesting move for thoughtful fans. As far as I've been able to research, Jed Lowrie has only played middle infield. He has a strong throwing arm - but needs to work on accuracy and there has been talk of working him at second base. So, Kevin Youkilis starts at third, but if he gets hurt, I wonder what they plan to do? Send Lowrie to third as a rookie who never played third? Or, is it more likely that Lugo or Cora would step in to play third and Lowrie would then either play or back up shortstop?

Lowrie is the best infielder in Pawtucket, and expected to spend some time in Boston this year, so it will be exciting to see him possibly get a chance to play this early in the season.

Hopefully the rain will hold off long enough tonight so we can all watch A-Rod wave at a few more pitches.

Amen brother!

I just checked the forecast. Definitely going to be some moisture coming through, but it looks like a chance most of it can slide north of Fenway. Looks like it will be close. Maybe a delay or two?

It is an interesting move. Where's Archimedes Pozo when you need him?

LOL - now there's a name you don't run across much. For those of you scratching your heads, he played for the Pawtucket Red Sox a few years back. Last I heard he was in Japan (if he is still in baseball). But, I think he played second base?
